The Christ the Redeemer Statue is one of the new seven wonders of the planet. The Corcovado (“Hunchback”) mountain where it stands, was named for its shape, due to its narrow summit. Building the statue back in 1926 was a big challenge for the engineers. It is the most popular attraction of Corcovado Mountain and brings over 300,000 visitors every year. From the peak’s platform, the panoramic view includes downtown Rio, as well as the south area.
