Our Pico da Tijuca Hiking Tour will take you to Tijuca Peak, a mountain that stands 1022 meters (3352 feet) of altitude, and is the highest point inside the Tijuca Forest national park, as well as the second highest mountain in the city. The trail starts at a cozy location inside the park, called Bom Retiro, with a large parking lot and restrooms. It is mostly sheltered and considered to be easy even for first timers. Small mammals like raccoons and sagui monkeys, as well as different species of birds may be seen along the way. After an approximate 80 minutes hike, we reach the summit , where a perfect view of the whole city can be contemplated. Besides the views, travelers can go a little further up, and check the 117 step stairway carved in stone and built over a hundred years ago, for the visit of king Albert I from Belgian. To reach the starting point of the trail, the guide will drive through most of the sector A and B of the national park, stopping for pictures at the Chinese View and Taunay waterfalls.

Travelers will be picked up from their accomodations in Rio between 08:00am and 08:30 am. In summer between 07:00am and 70:30 am
We will drive through the national park, passing by the most important sites and quickly stopping for photos and contemplation.
After an hour or so, we will reach Bom Retiro, where the trail starts. Some info is given to travelers, about safety on the trail, history, fauna and flora.
After 1.5 hours we reach the summit. About 45 to 60 minutes after arriving at the summit, we will start decending back to the starting point.
About an hour after arriving at parking lot, we are back at your customer`s adress in Rio.

Pickup times for travelers are as follows: from 8:00 am to 8:30 am during the year, and from 7:00 am to 7:30 am in summer.
