A French engineer , Pierre-Marcel Lemoigne is believed to be the creator of the first towable parachute. Initially, he imagined the device being used by skydivers and the military, to produce a more maneuverable shoot and improve the safety of the flight.
In the late 1960s, tour operators started offering parasailing along coastlines, drawing a crowd. New technology improved the parasail, as the sport grew up in popularity, and more passengers were added to a single ride.
