The Sugar Loaf Hiking Tour in Rio de Janeiro ideal way to reach the summit of Sugar Loaf , for the more adventurous ones looking for a good exercise and thrill.
The Sugar Loaf mountain stands 396 meters high and is one of Rio´s most famous post cards. Most people go up to the summit by cable car but the most adventurous ones prefer to go hiking. In this experience, we offer this possibility. We use safety gear for the protection of our clients, at some point during the hike. It is recommended to regular hikers in good physical conditions, as the trail is steep and mostly rocky and unsheltered. The whole process of ascending the trail takes from 2 to 3 hours according to the pace of the group. The views from the top are rewarding and mind-blowing. Do not miss this experience, book it today!

Our Sugar LOaf Hiking Tour in Rio de Janeiro starts with the group meeting at 02:00pm, in front of Santander bank next to praia Vermelha ( red beach) in Urca neighborhood.
Once there, we start the 2 hours hike on a steep trail, up to the top at 390 meters ( approx. 1200 feet), The trail ends at the top of sugar loaf mountain, where a breathtaking view of the south area and Rio`s beaches is waiting for us.
After visiting the top of sugar loaf and checking the amazing views for about 40 minutes, wetake the cable car to reach Urca mountain and then the the trail back to praia vermelha.

Cablecar ticket down from Urca mountain to the bottom (R$ 40,00), and transfers from/to sugar loaf area.

The use of climbing gear will be needed at some point during the hike, for safety reasons. All clients must agree to use and they will be provided by Rio Adventures.

Remember that during the check out process, you will be directed to PayPal for the payment. It you don’t have a PayPal account, you can easily open a free account in a few minutes. All you need is to use your email, create a password and add a credit card to your new account. If you don’t want to open an account, you will not be able to pay with a credit card, and will only be able to pay via local bank transfer( PIX).
Hike recommended to travelers in good physical conditions . A little bit of climbing is involved in this activity but we use climbing gear only for safety as the climbing part is easy.
Clients who fail to show up at the meeting place on time will not be eligible for refunds. Tour guide will wait for 30 minutes after the agreed time. After that the tour will be cancelled.
Hike is cancelled in case of rain. We will contact the clients a day before in case it is raining, as the trail becomes too wet and slipery for this activity.Full refund of the deposit will be provided in this case.
