The Tijuca Forest and Favela Tour , is a great way to see 2 of the most popular places in Rio, in just one tour . It starts with a visit to the Forest and then, finishing the trip at the Rocinha Slum.
TIJUCA FOREST and FAVELA TOUR
The Tijuca Forest National Park got its name from the local indians who called the nearby mangrove “Tijuca“, which is a saline coastal habitat with a strong water smell. Later, the name Tijuca also became the name of the mountains and the neighborhood around it. It is a natural habitat that splits the West from the South, Central and North zones of the city. The park has more than 3000 species of plants, and hundreds of bird types. After visiting it we head out to the Favela Tour in rocinha, the biggest and most populated slum in Rio.
