The Tijuca Forest is considered the largest urban forest in the whole world. It represents 7% of the whole city`s territory, and it is also known as the lungs of Rio
Visiting Rio and not seeing the forest is like going to New York city and not seeing the central park. Rio is all about nature, exotic places and amazing views. This beautiful green world , is the home of birds, small mammals and exotic plants . Common species are the Saguis and Capuchin monkeys, as well as the quatis ( brazilian raccoon), which can be easily spotted there. In terms of birds, toucans, canarians, buzzards, hawks, and many other species can be seen in the park in their natural habitat.

We start going up the park through Horto around 8:30/09:00 am, which is a nice little neighborhood right behind the Botanical Gardens.

We continue the tour towards sector A of the park, the main sector of the park, passing by Mesa do Imperador ( Emperor`s Table) and Vista do Almirante.
Once we arrive at sector A, we stop for a visit to Taunay Falls and the Visitor`s Center.

The day trip at the Tijuca rainforest was made excellent by our professional local guide! I would def recommend! The only small negative... was the price, but still we think it was worth it! Bonus point.. we met a large family of macacas!! So cute
First off I had run into an issue when my second guest bailed on me for both my tours, but they were very helpful in figuring the best way so I may still be able to take the tour with them. (They do tours for two guest or more.) Very prompt response and accommodating as much as they can to their policy. I recommend booking all your tours during the weekdays if its during peak summer in Brazil, because the weekends everything is packed with people. The beach tour is a great way go see all the best shore views and you are given 1hr to lounge wherever you choose. Grumari beach is the nicest. The Tijuca forest + Favela tour was also really beautiful. My guide was very knowledgeable in all the details and best spots to show. Plus side, also knows how to take great pictures bring your camera for sure! The view on the top is beautiful. The favela was also an experience to have. Totally recommend if you want to avoid the busy tours with a bunch of people who hold you up or a tour guide that rushes through everything. This is more of a one on one tour with the sights and best way to see everything, It made my last day in Rio the best! Plus the price is right!
Christ the Redeemer and Tijuca Forest tour We took this tour with Raphael and it was absolutely perfect! The sights from the top of Corcovado and actually seeing what we’ve seen in pictures from the Christo statue is breathtaking! The drive through the forest, stopping at the waterfall, the visitor center and the Chinese lookout was beautiful! Then stopping by the platform and watching hang gliders and para gliders take off was exhilarating! We ended at the beach where they land, and got to enjoy a super awesome juice and snacks while watching them. Raphael is a great guide and makes the day really fun! He speaks very good English and knows his city well! His van is also very comfortable. We highly recommend this tour!
