Serra dos Órgãos Trekking Expedition in Rio de Janeiro

2 days

Challenging

Our Serra dos Orgãos Trekking Expedition , is done in the Serra dos Orgãos National Park. It comprehends the cities of Teresópolis and Petrópolis and is recommended to travelers in good physical conditions and outgoing spirit

The Serra dos Orgãos Trekking Expedition has many beautiful views, flora and fauna. The best time to visit the park is during Fall and early Spring, between april and october, due to the mild temperatures found in these seasons. Unless the forecast is favorable, due to possible storms and casual mud and rock slides, it is not recommended to visit this area during summertime.

The Serra dos Órgãos national park was created in 1939, and is third oldest national park in our country. It is located on the outskirts of Teresópolis city , about 1.5 hours from Rio city. With over 12,000 hectares of mountainous land, the park has what is called Atlantic Tropical Forest of altitude, and some of the most spectacular scenery in all the Serra dos Órgãos mountain range. The park includes lowland and highland forest. Our trekking expedition goes mostly through the highland Atlantic Forest. This trek was designed particularly for the adventurous and energetic ones, as the 32 km trail includes several steep hill climbs.
